ATM simulation and validation – critical capabilities to drive airport capacity enhancement

HungaroControl – the Hungarian air navigation service provider – drives an extensive air navigation research & development programme, coupled with simulation services to support prototyping and validation. As a consequence of air traffic growth globally, there is an increased need to explore alternative solutions to address current challenges. Simulation and validation are critical capabilities to identify, build and accelerate solutions that tangibly optimise capacity and support efficient airport operations. In recent years, HungaroControl has been making ground-breaking efforts to improve flight safety, optimise capacity, reduce operational costs and enhance environmental sustainability, not just for ATM industry, but also for airports and airport operators.

Urban Air Mobility powered by batteries or hybrid power sources has the potential to radically change the way we travel in the very near future. Both electric fixed wing and electric VTOL aircraft with their lower capital and operating costs could reduce the cost of flight to a point where it may be normal to choose a flight mode as a part of your journey. The development of electric aviation will lead to a distributed aviation system making better use of existing second tier and general aviation airports, while potentially freeing up capacity at larger regional and international airports

It was a very well attended event, we are very happy with not only the level and quality of the visitors but also the quantity. Based on our experience exhibiting we will definitely be present at the next ACI Airport Exchange.

Johan Godin, Managing Director - AviaVox

It is great to be here where we can meet our colleagues from all over the world and exchange ideas, see new and different projects. The digital innovations are especially impressive, as a Chief Commercial Officer I am trying to balance the commercial success and the customer experience.

Mert Baser, Chief Commercial Officer - Istanbul New Airport – iGA

It’s been fantastic, we have been here exhibiting our electric aircraft for two days, there has been a lot of interest and a lot of interesting conversations. Fantastic!

Olav Mosvold, Larsen, Senior Advisor - Avinor

We have always enjoyed the atmosphere at ACI Airport Exchange. They are very much about networking and meeting people but also showing the latest innovations and solutions. We are happy with this years’ event, it really stood up to our high expectations. There are very many attendees from different levels and we have had the opportunity to meet a lot of the right people. We are looking to come back to ACI Airport Exchange next year, it is becoming one of our regular events in the calendar.

Calin Hera, Business Development Manager - KONE

The event has been very good, with a great location. We have been busy in the exhibition, and the social events and networking have been excellent. We have certainly met a lot of the right people.

Didier Steullet, Country Manager - Swissport International Ltd

We have had a lot of traction with visitors to our stand in the exhibition here at ACI Airport Exchange. Oman Airports Management Company has shown a lot of interest, and it is very motivating that the host is so engaged in the event. We have been very busy in the exhibition – it is the best Airport Exchange I have attended. The social events and networking opportunities have also been excellent.

Jesper P. Simonsen, Business Development Manager - Envirosuite

I found the exhibition to be very well organised. The level of people versus the other exhibitions I take part in was very good. People here want to do business and everyone was open and welcoming to talk. We wanted to take part because we had a very good year with OAMC but I think we got even more than that out of it, so I am very happy

Cameron Cumming, Regional Sales Manager - IER

The event has been excellent and informative. I have found the conference sessions very interesting – there was lots of interaction and debate. The exhibition has been great, with a huge amount of companies to see. I have enjoyed the networking opportunities.

Daan Achmad, Director of Human Capital, General Affairs & IT - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero)

The best part about the show was the ACI team and the way they have organised the conference. We managed to network and even meet new companies, who build technology we didn’t even know existed.

Naseer Ahmad Khan, Managing Director - ieon

It has been very interesting to hear from specialist speakers across the customer journey – it is clear that the value chain is becoming more aligned, and we are seeing more cooperation. The format of the conference sessions has worked very well, with a high level of debate and interaction with the audience. ACI Airport Exchange is also clearly very valuable in terms of networking opportunities.

Richard Jewsbury, Divisional Senior Vice President Projects - Emirates Airline

The conference sessions have been a very good source of exchange and experiences. There has been a good level of interaction between the speakers and the audience, which has allowed us all to share opinions. The networking opportunities have been fantastic, and really enjoyed the spectacular social events.

Florence Muls - Brussels Airport Company

The conference sessions have been interesting, informative and contained diverse thoughts about the future. Most of the sessions I have attended have been based around security as this is the sector I work in. They have addressed all the things that airports are talking about, from contract management to security infrastructure and technology, and always connecting back to the passenger experience.

Kyile Whyte, Security Infrastructure & Equipment Manager - Sydney Airport

ACI Airport Exchange has been superbly organised, as always. I found the conference sessions very interesting, and it has been a fantastic forum for both learning and networking

Dr Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director - Rostock Airport

ACI Airport Exchange has been excellent. It has been very well attended, the conference sessions have been interesting, and there has been a good level of engagement between participants.

Giulio De Carli, Founder and Managing Partner - One Works

It has been an amazing event. It has been exceptionally well organised and on such a massive scale – the scale of the event matches the scale of the new Istanbul airport! It has been a wonderful showcase for İGA and Istanbul New Airport, and for delegates to learn about this new mega-hub. The social events and networking opportunities have been great as always, and the entertainment was outstanding. The exhibition was also very impressive, and well set out.

Johan Schölvinck, Vice-President Commercial - InterVISTAS Consulting Group

It has been a very big event, with lots of exhibitors and a very high standard of organisation. Overall, I am amazed at the quality of ACI Airport Exchange.

Mohamed Al Husaini, CEO Office Manager - Oman Airports

ACI Airport Exchange been very good and extremely well attended this year. I went to a couple of conference sessions, and I really enjoyed them. The sessions presented great information, particularly the keynote address with Dr Sani Şener, Member of the ACI Governing Board and CEO TAV Airports Holding and TAV Construction, and Mertol Genç, General Manager İGA Havalimanları. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the networking and social events.

LeeAnn Levesque, President and CEO - SureScan Corporation

Discussions in the conference sessions have been very engaging, with a lot of interaction between the speakers and the audience. The networking has been excellent – I am pleased with the good contacts we have made both regionally and internationally.

Tuukka Pakkala, Head of Global Escalator Offering - KONE Elevators and Escalators

It has been a really good event and exhibition. It is the best of cultures between Europe and Asia, and of course with Turkey being one of the key drivers for aviation it is the right place and locations to do it, especially with the new airport. The most important part of the event is the exchange between Europe and Asia – even though aviation is a global business, the exchange between these two regions is very positive.

Pedro Alves, Business Development Manager - Vision-Box

ACI always put on an incredible event and always offers fantastic networking opportunities, the conference and exhibition showcases the perfect balance between networking and meeting new people and customers.

Meric Döner - Safegate Group

The whole organisation behind the event was great and I particularly enjoyed the fact that there were different sessions of the conference. It is interesting because sometimes you tend to think that something might not be of your core interest but it turns out to be. And also, I really enjoyed the networking and in general coming together with the people from the industry.

Peder Beausang, Corporate Crisis Manager, Corporate Security and Safety - Swedavia

I thought the conference sessions were really well organised and informative and the flow of the sessions have been organised very well. There have been lots of very interesting and relevant topics, and I haven’t been to any that are boring. People always question whether it is worth taking the time out of day jobs to attend conferences, and for me it absolutely has been worth it. Valuable connections, and very valuable information.

Tijen Cirig, Director, Airport Solutions - SITA

I attended the Security & Crisis Management Summit which was focused on inside threats and all of the speakers that I heard were focusing on the matter and were giving very nice suggestions for the future. The level was very high and met my expectations for sure.

Massimo Bonechi, Defence Security & Transportation Direction - Thales

My time here has given me a better understanding about Turkish Airlines, and the new airport, which are areas that I am particularly interested in given that we provide construction and operation expertise to İGA, and it has provided some very valuable social opportunities.

Kwang Sik Song - Incheon International Airport Corporation

All of the conferences were very interesting and the timings were perfect – it was just the right amount of time for each speaker and it was very engaging. The topics were also very relevant. Overall, I attended most of the sessions and I really liked them; we found very new concepts and new technologies.

Dalia Elbaltaji, Account Manager, SITA, and Laike Tafesse, Director Solution Design, Airport Solution Line - SITA

It has been very good – we’ve had many planned and unplanned meetings here and it has been a good show. We’ve attended ACI Airport Exchange four or five times, and it is the event that is on our list to attend every year.

Matthew Horsman - Aertec Solutions

The venue itself is pretty spectacular and there has been some really key players from different sectors in the market showcasing at the exhibition. The conference topics have been really great and relevant, particularly with İGA’s involvement and the focus on the new airport. We have had a very productive few days and people have been very open about their challenges, such as maximising airport infrastructure.

Nick Stevens, Senior Solution Architect - NATS

It has been really good and we have made some very interesting and good contacts. At these kind of conferences and exhibitions it isn’t so much about the footfall – you only need one good contact to make it worth attending.

Liz Sian - Avian Safe

This year has been very, very good. We’ve met many new customers, and we have also been able to learn about and see other new solutions and products in the market. Customers, airports and airlines have tried to learn more about our self-tagging products and we have been very pleased with not just the results, but also the venue, the location and the food. ACI Airport Exchange is very good for not only the external market, but also the internal market.

Borry Vrieling, Founder and Managing Director - eezeetags

It is our first time at ACI Airport Exchange, although we have visited other shows in the US, and we will definitely be attending this show next year. We are a niche market with our greenEMAS solution, but the customers that have come by have been interesting and valuable.

Göran Felldin - Runway Safe
