What brings you to the EXPO this year?

We have been part of this event for several years and are proud to showcase the latest technology and cutting-edge solutions for airports. We are keen to show how we can support airports to achieve easy air travel every step of the way through seamless passenger experience, operational excellence and industry collaboration.

Why should visitors come to your stand and what can they expect to see?

Our stand offers a real feel for Smart Path, our common-use biometric passenger self-service solution. You will be able to experience how, using your mobile phone, you can register your biometric data and then your face becomes your passport at every step through the airport. We are also showcasing the latest of what digitization can offer through the Airport Digital Twin demo, a promising technology to simplify operations and enable total airport management. Additionally, we will showcase ACDM Fast Start, a new tool that is allowing airports of all sizes to benefit and implement Collaborative Decision Making.

Which technology or trend do you think will have the biggest impact on the air transport industry in 2019?

Biometrics is going mainstream and is having a big impact on aviation. Biometric technology is delivering new efficiency to the passenger journey, allowing travelers to sail through the steps in the airport using just their face as a passport or boarding pass. SITA’s Smart Path is already available in the market and being used in airports in the Middle East, North America, Europe and Asia. The solution will be demoed at the show.

Artificial Intelligence is another area with significant potential to streamline operations at the airport, particularly in bringing more predictability and efficiencies to aircraft turnarounds. Additionally, Blockchain, Internet of Things and Next Gen Communications (SDN/5G) will potentially have a considerable benefit for the air transport industry. SITA has identified several use cases and our team onsite will be happy to share the progress we made in unlocking the value of these emerging technologies.
